As warm weather is approaching we wanted to provide you with some tips on how to prevent injury and stay safe with increased activity!
Tip #1 Practice a 5-10 minute warm up that includes stretching to prepare the body for activity. This is also recommended after activity for a body cool down.
Tip #2 Start your activity off slow and work up to more vigorous activity as you feel more comfortable.
Tip #3 Mix up the type of activity’s that you do and be aware of the intensity. Preforming high intensity exercises repeatedly can increase the risk for stress fractures, inflamed ligaments and tendons, etc. Allow for proper rest in between workouts.
Tip #4 Wear appropriate shoes for the type of activity’s that are being preformed. If shoes begin to wear down, such as the cushion, replace shoes to prevent injury.
Tip #5 Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated during activity. With higher intensity activity the body looses many electrolytes so making sure to replenish appropriately is important
